Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who visited Bihar on Sunday, took a dig at CM Nitish Kumar’s ambition for the country’s top post and said that the Prime Minister’s post is not vacant.
It was rumoured that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has plans to hand over the CM’s post to Tejashwi Yadav, after he becomes the Prime Minister of India. But both Mr Kumar and Mr Yadav have dismissed the possibility. Addressing the BJP rally at Bihar’s Nawada on Sunday, Amit Shah said that the people have decided to make Narendra Modi Prime Minister for the third time.
Address the rally, Amit Shah took a jibe at CM Nitish Kumar and said, “I want to tell Lalu-ji – you know Nitish, he can’t be the Prime Minister, the post is not available. People of the country have decided that Narendra Modi will become the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term.”
Amit Shah added, “Once that happens, Nitish Kumar will go back on his promise of handing over the mantle to his deputy Tejashwi Yadav as his dreams of becoming the Prime Minister will be shattered. You have a misunderstanding and Nitishji has also got misunderstanding, but the people of Bihar have no misunderstanding. They have clearly decided that Narendra Modi’s Lotus will bloom in all the 40 seats of the state.”
The JD(U) had the 30-plus years partnership with the BJP, which helped Nitish Kumar became the CM of Bihar for the second time. But their partnership ended in 2022 after reports that Amit Shah was foraging within the JD(U) for defectors. Throwing the BJP out of power, Nitish reset his government within 24 hours by reviving the grand alliance with Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal and six other parties. Amit Shah said that the BJP’s doors are always closed for the Bihar Chief Minister. He said, “The BJP can never join hands with Nitish Kumar, who spreads venom of casteism, and ‘Jungle Raj’ pioneer Lalu Prasad.”
