Anurag Kashyap’s Netflix film Choked trailer explores the dark days of demonetization

If you’re fed up with binging on the same kinda movies and series back to back, Netflix has something new in store for everyone! Since the lockdown, Netflix has released a series of movies and sitcoms. Now recently Netflix dropped the trailer of Anurag Kashyap’s rather dark film ‘Choked’ and the film explores the topic of demonetization right at its core. If you remember a few years back PM Modi has turned the world upside down for many India as he declared the old notes will be banned and new ones will be issued. This was a step taken to control the flow of black money in India.

Now Anurag’s movie revolves around a woman called Sarita played by actor Saiyami Kher who belongs to a middle-class family and accidentally finds an unlimited supply of money in her own kitchen. Right after turning rich, Saiyami is faced with an unexpected situation – demonetization, which was imposed to unveil every kind of black money. It would be surely interesting to see the story unfold of Sarita who is stuck in a marriage with a good-for-nothing husband and as Sarita gets a taste of money now tries to manage the situation as a bank cashier loaded with money.

Speaking of the series, Anurag Kashyap manages to tap into the genre he works on best – the dark world. This isn’t the first time he has worked on a project with Netflix. Before this, he has previously collaborated with Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar and Dibakar Banerjee on ‘Ghost Stories’. Prior to that, Kashyap had collaborated with Netflix for ‘Sacred Games’ and ‘Lust Stories’. Apart from Saiyami and Roshan Mathew, the movie also features Amruta Subhash and Rajshri Deshpande. Well, the trailer sure did grab our attention and we hope the whole series is gripping. Have you watched the trailer yet? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
