Bollywood has been facing a huge loss due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation as all the movie releases have been pushed and many ongoing shootings come to a halt. One of the upcoming movies was Dibakar Banerjee’s much-awaited and delayed film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar starring Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra was slated to release on March 20 but got pushed yet again.
In a recent interview, Arjun when asked if his film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar will directly release online, he said, “I’m not involved in the selling and buying of any of my films. My producers are more involved with that bit. That is a reality for certain films that might choose that path. I don’t see anything wrong with that.” He further added, “As an artist, if you look at the purity of it right now, the medium is not important. Getting your material out there is important. And for that, if certain films have to be released on digital, I don’t see anything wrong in it.”
Earlier, the Multiplex Association of India, a nationwide group of cinema operators, urged the film industry to release films in theatres after the lockdown and maintain the exclusive theatrical windows. The Multiplex Association of India issued a statement which was shared by Taran Adarsh on Instagram in which they said, “When this crisis passes, the combination of the pent-up demand and the promise of new movies, we are sure, would boost film business and contribute massively in reviving our industry. The collective, social experience of watching films on the big screen needs to be preserved and it can be done so only with the collective support of all stakeholders,” the association said. Well, everyone’s excited to see all the movie that was supposed to release this year and we hope some of them do their digital release. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below.
