Assam CM on Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra: Try to integrate Pakistan, Bangladesh

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has spoken about Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and said that Congress disintegrated India in 1947. He should try to integrate Pakistan, Bangladesh and work for Akhand Bharat.

Rahul Gandhi launched the mega rally ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ today (September 7). Before this launch, the Congress leader took part in a prayer meeting at former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s memorial in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu and paid tribute to his father. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that the Yatra would be a turning point in Indian politics and will mark a new beginning.

Talking about the rally, the Assam CM hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. “India is intact. We’re one nation. Congress disintegrated India in 1947. If Rahul Gandhi has any regret that his grandfather made a mistake, there’s no use of Bharat Jodo Yatra in India. Try to integrate Pakistan, Bangladesh & work for Akhand Bharat,” ANI quoted Himanta Biswa Sarma as saying.

Himanta Biswa Sarma is a former member of the Indian National Congress party. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on 23 August 2015. The Congress general secretary in-charge of communications hit out at the Assam CM saying that his immature statement meant to impress his new masters.  Jairam Ramesh said, “I think the Assam CM is boyish, immature and he makes statements only to prove his loyalty to his new masters.”

Rahul considers the rally as a way to connect with the common people. The former Congress chief tweeted after attending the prayer meeting, “I lost my father to the politics of hate and division. I will not lose my beloved country to it too. Love will conquer hate. Hope will defeat fear. Together, we will overcome.”
