The state home department of Maharashtra will soon create a special investigation team that is headed by senior IPS officials to investigate the ‘ Urban Naxal ‘ case on Monday a senior minister of state said.

Anil Deshmukh State Home Minister takes a decision on this early and four days after the Pune Sessions Court has referred the case to the National Investigation Agency, he added.
Over the way of Pune police investigated the case the NCP head Sharad Pawar was quite open about his apprehension.
“There appears to be something that the former (Devendra) Fadnavis government wants to suppress. That’s why the probe has been handed over to the NIA. The Fadnavis government was in power when the Koregaon-Bhima violence broke out,” Mr. Pawar told media Sunday in Jalgaon.
Nevertheless, the chief minister was entitled to use his discretionary powers he said and that investigating matter was a prerogative of the Centre. “but the Maha Vikas Aghadi government should have been taken into confidence”.
Elgar Parishad-Koregaon-Bhima case was a bone of contention between Maharashtra and the Centre as it created enormous friction for the past three weeks between NCP Congress and ruling allies Shiv Sena.
The Police of Pune has claimed Maoists were behind the conclave. During the probe, Police in Pune detained left-leaning militants. NIA was asked by the Centre to take over the case after a few days.
