Ajay Devgn’s Bholaa opened to a good response at the Indian box office on Thursday, but failed to beat the first-day collection record of Ranbir Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkar (TJMM) in the domestic market.
Bholaa is a Hindi remake of super-hit Tamil film Kaithi, the success of which had created a lot of hype for the movie. The promos of the Bollywood flick added more to the viewers’ curiosity. The film was released in 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D and 4DX on 30 March 2023 and also registered good numbers in pre-sales of its ticket.
The Ajay Devgn starrer took a fair opening across mass pockets and the contribution gave a chance to its number to be double digits on its first day. But the response in Mumbai city, Delhi NCR and South is weak. Bholaa has collected Rs 11.20 crore net at the Indian box office on the first day. Sumit Kadel tweeted, “#Bholaa Takes A Fair Opening of ₹ 11.20 cr nett at the Box office. #AjayDevgn.”
Film trade pandit Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Bholaa at national chains… Week 1 – Day 1 [Thursday]… #PVR: 2.44 cr #INOX: 1.73 cr #Cinepolis: 1.03 cr ⭐️ Total: ₹ 5.20 cr 2023 releases… national chains only – *Day 1* biz… ⭐️ #Pathaan: ₹ 27.08 cr ⭐️ #Shehzada: ₹ 2.92 cr ⭐️ #Selfiee: ₹ 1.30 cr ⭐️ #TJMM: ₹ 7.85 cr.” Bholaa has failed to beat the record of the recent Hindi release Tu Jhoothi Mai Makkar, which collected Rs 15.73 crore net at the domestic box office on the first day. However, it has become one of the top five biggest Bollywood openers of the year 2023.
