Board Exams 2020: Prepared to Conduct Class 10,12 Pending Exams at first possibility

The government of Delhi requested the center to promote Class 10 and Class 12 students facing CBSE examinations based on the results of internal examinations.

At first possibility, the HRD Ministry is ready to organize the pending board exams for classes 10 and 12 for 29 crucial subjects.

The ministry also urged states to initiate the assessment process for the examinations already conducted and to encourage the evaluation of answer sheets by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

“We have scheduled to conduct board exams for Class 10 and 12 pending due to shut down in the midst of the Covid-19 situation in the country. Exams will be held at the first opportunity for 29 subjects crucial for promotion and admission to undergraduate courses. Students will indeed be given at least 10 days’ notice before examinations are conducted,” said a senior official at the Ministry.

“States were asked to begin the screening process for the exams already conducted and were advised to encourage the evaluation of the answer sheets. CBSE would also provide marking or evaluation directions for non-important subjects that are not included in a list of 29 subjects,” the official said.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia proposed that students be classified on an internal assessment basis because it is not possible to conduct the pending examinations nowadays. Sisodia, who’s also the Minister of Education, said Delhi’s students would be more affected because of delays in conducting examinations as various states have their own boards, whereas the national capital only serves CBSE.

Ministers of education from various states have put forward deliberations regarding their respective boards of state.

A seven-member committee set to examine the dilemma has suggested to start of the admission process for undergraduate students in July-August as well as the beginning of a new session for freshers in September. However, no definitive decision in every regard has yet been made.

The CBSE already has declared that will not conduct any exams for international students.

Universities and schools around the country were closed since March 16, when a countrywide classroom closure was declared by the Centre as one of the steps to control the Covid-19 outbreak.
