CM Basavaraj Bommai escapes fire accident near Areshiroor helipad

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had a lucky escape during his trip to Kolluru, when a fire broke out near the helipad during the takeoff of a helicopter in Areshiroor on Thursday (April 13).

A day after Karnataka BJP announced its candidates list, Basavaraj Bommai arrived in Kollur via the Areshiroor helipad. The CM’s escort had already left when the fire broke out at the helipad, the situation was quickly brought under control by the fire brigade, which was present at the place.

The fire originated in the helicopter fan, and it was extinguished before any damage could be done.  Everything looks plain when seen from above in a helicopter. For this reason, smoke is released at the landing site for the helicopter to land. The pilot lands the helicopter knowing that there is a helipad in the thick smoke.

Earlier, the district administration was informed that the Chief Minister would come to Kollur in a vehicle by road. But at the last moment the he came in a helicopter. Grass had grown near the landing site and it was not removed because it was scheduled at the last moment. As a result, the fire started due to the high speed of the wind due to the helicopter wing, which spread the smoke along with the grass field.

However, Basavaraja Bommai along with his wife Chennamma visited Kollur Mukambika temple in Byndur taluk of Udupi district. The couple offered prayers to the Garudagamba in the temple premises. On this occasion, BJP district leaders were present with the CM couple.
