COVID 19 Outbreak updates: Nearly 80% of 3,390 cases of coronavirus in 4 States over last 24 hours, 70% of 103 deaths in 2 states

Of its totally new cases recorded by Covid-19, 78% were from four states-Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.

The number of deaths due to Covid-19 increased to 1,886 and on Friday the number of patients rose to 56,342 in the country, reporting a raise of 103 deaths and 3,390 cases over the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said.

Covid-19 reported cases peaked at 37,916. While 16,539 people have stabilized, one patient is migrated, it said.

“So far, roughly 29.35 percent of patients are discharged,” said a senior official at the health ministry. There are 111 foreign nationals representing the total number of events.

The number of 103 deaths recorded since Thursday morning will include 43 in Maharashtra; 29 in Gujarat; eight in Madhya Pradesh; seven in West Bengal; five in Rajasthan; two in Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh; and one each in Bihar, Delhi, Punjab, Karnataka, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Of the recorded overall fresh cases, 78% are from four states-Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. Another analysis shows that 53 percent of new cases come across Maharashtra and Gujarat, both states.

A whopping 36 percent of new cases alone come from Maharashtra. Of its total deaths, Maharashtra and Gujarat reported 70 percent of deaths.

On Thursday Maharashtra reported 1,216 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the count of positive state cases to 17,974, a government official told PTI. It will be the second-largest single-day positive case number, the official said.

The state also reported 43 more Covid-19 patients died – 24 of whom were in Mumbai – bringing the state death count to 694, he said.

In the meantime, the number of additional cases of coronavirus in the Gujarat district of Ahmedabad rose to 4,991 on Thursday after 275 new cases have been registered in the last 24 hours, officials said. Such 4,991 cases throughout the district of Ahmedabad constitute a significant amount of the total 7,013 positive cases reported since then in Gujarat.
