Custody movie review: Here is what audience say about Naga Chaitanya’s film

Director Venkat Prabhu’s Tamil-Telugu bilingual movie Custody starring Naga Chaitanya, Arvind Swamy, Sampath Raj, Krithi Shetty, has received mixed reviews and ratings from the audience.

Custody is an action thriller film and director Venkat Prabhu has written the script and dialogues for the movie along with Abburi Ravi. Srinivasa Chitturi has produced the movie under Srinivasaa Silver Screen and Anji Industries

Custody movie story: Constable Shiva (Naga Chaitanya) is a small-town guy, who arrests gangster Raju (Arvind Swami) and a CBI officer George (Sampath) accidentally. Shiva learns through the CBI officer that Raju needs to be produced in Bangalore court. But Raju has the support of CM Dakshyani (Priyamani) and the entire government. How he succeeds in his attempt forms the crux of the story.

Analysis: Custody deals with a routine story. The movie starts on a slow note but picks up the speed after 30 mins. Romantic tracks are boring in the second half. Though the director manages to keep you hooked to the seats, it is an average movie, say the audience.

Naga Chaitanya, Arvind Swamy, Sampath Raj and Krithi Shetty have delivered brilliant performances, which are the highlights of Custody. The movie has decent production values and background score, picturisation, action scenes and punch dialogues are the attractions on the technical front, add the viewers.

#Custody could have been so much better had the editing been brutal and a lot of unnecessary scenes were removed. Like Maanaadu, if the movie just dealt with the actual plot and just cut down all the other sentiment and love nonsense, I would have personally enjoyed it more. It’s an average movie with some really good action scenes and tight drama but they were not enough to salvage the lengthy screenplay. Songs were a major letdown. I’m nobody to comment about Ilaiyaraja but the background score felt very 90s movie-type. There’s only one tune that we all heard in the teaser which is good. Camerawork and acting was good throughout the movie except when Chay had to cry which I felt was not hitting me in the feels. I just wished the movie be so much better man. Damn. Disappointed.🥲

Now that’s a first half! Thoroughly enjoying #Custody ‘a storytelling so far! VP is hitting the right mix of action, comedy, and a sense of world building. No character is wasted for sense and every scene is necessary. One shot fight 👌NC is holding his own while YSR’s BGM 🔥 The songs aren’t needed and the love track sometimes acts as a hindrance, but these are minor flaws. Loving VP’s concept and loving his vision more! Really looking forward to the second half! #Custody Crazy storytelling, crazy screenplay. Absolutely love #Custody so far! Ilage velthe VP and NC will definitely have a winner!!

#CustodyReview: Overall Custody is a well made cop drama. #NagaChaitanya delivers his career best and rest of the cast including #ArvindSwamy, Krithi Shetty, Priyamani, Sarathkumar, etc. provide very good performances. The good part is no character is purposeless in this film. All have relevance to the plot. The second half of the film has a lot of interesting cameos and good action which keeps us engaged. The BGM of the film is solid and so is the camera work. The biggest minus of #Custody are the songs that are bad and disturb the flow. The movie doesnt have many twists and gets predictable but the director still keeps you hooked. Rating: 7.5/10 A good watch. #VenkatPrabhu #Custody #CustodyFromToday #CustodyReview #NagaChaitanya #KrithiShetty

#Custody has some issues in the 2nd half; some emotional moments are undone by poor music choices. The tonal inconsistency is palpable. It keeps oscillating between wacky and dead serious but when it’s fun, it’s super fun! The self-aware, witty writing is the best part.

Venky Reviews @venkyreviews

#Custody Overall a Below Par Action-Thriller! Interesting plot point with a few well-designed scenes that work but the rest is tiresome. Film is dragged in many places with repetitive actions scenes and narrated in a flat way. BGM is ok but songs are awful. Rating: 2.25/5

#Custody is a decent action thriller. The initial love track and a few boring parts in the second hour act as minus points, but the other important scenes work well. The dynamic between Shiva and Raju was good, and Raju’s character stands out. #CustodyReview

Rishi @Abhi_Pitt

#Custody one of the best starting first 30 to 40mins I’ve ever seen..racy interval, potential relief for akkineni fan chay looked convincing and acting kummss… AS character is pretty well designed..3/5👍

#Custody (Tamil|2023) – THEATRE. Aravind Swamy’s witty 1 liners r super. Neat Perf frm Chay, Kriti & Sarath. Thr s a surprise cameo. Bad Songs. Initial 35Mins Romantic Track s bore. Pre Interval & Interval block gud. 2nd Hlf action scenes become repetative. Lacks punch. AVERAGE!

Ramesh Bala @rameshlaus #Custody 1st Half : Starts slow.. Picks up steam in 30 minutes.. The chase and action sequences are quite good.. Especially underwater.. @chay_akkineni is very sincere.. @thearvindswami scenes are very funny.. Looking forward to the 2nd half..
