Dasara has continued to rock the ticket counters in the second week and crossed the $2 million mark at the USA box office on its 12th day. It has become the first film for Nani to achieve this feat.
Having opened to a fantastic response, Dasara collected $1,864,008 at the USA box office in the eight-day-extended first week. In its second week, the Nani starrer faced a big threat in the form of Ravanasura, which reduced its screen count by over 50%. Trade experts predicted that the Ravi Teja Teja starrer would take a huge toll on its collection its second week.
But the Srikanth Adela-debut directorial venture managed to brave the wave of Ravanasura. In fact, Dasara performed better than the latter and collected $167,523 at the USA box office in four days of its second week, taking its 12-day total collection to $2,031,531. Its day-wise breakup is $42,187 on Friday, $53,897 on Saturday, $37,974 on Sunday and $33,465 on Monday.
Tollywood trade analyst Jeevi tweeted, “#Dasara crosses $2 Million landmark on Monday morning! Collects $33,465 from 119 loc on the Sunday and total gross till Sunday is $1,998,066. This is #Nani’s first $2 Million film in which his performance is the one that drove the film to success!!”
It is the huge success to the content of Dasara. Jeevi wrote, “Whenever Nani have a film with good content, audiences rewarded him with collections. His film #BBM collected almost that of Nizam in the USA by showing the potential of Nani in the USA. His award winning Jersey too did extremely well in the USA.”
The trade pandit added, “But, #Dasara is completely different. Nani is known as boy next door with an identifiable characteristic. In #Dasara he attempted very raw character that we usually see in rustic films of Tamil and convinced everybody. It resulted in a great openings and opened up box office potential to Nani and put him in a higher league.” Jeevi concluded, “Producer Sudhakar Cherukuri who didn’t have successes earlier took a bigger gamble on the film and delivered his first blockbuster. After Mahanati, Keerthy Suresh gave her best performances in Telugu. Debutant director Srikanth Odela who came from Sukumar’s school make his guru proud!”
