Elon Musk announced that Linda Yaccarino will the new CEO of Twitter. She will be on board and will focus primarily on business operations, while he focuses on product design & new technology.
For the last few days, Twitter was abuzz with rumours that Elon Musk would bring a new CEO on board. He took to Twitter to clear the air and wrote, “Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks! My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.”
This morning, Elon Musk welcomed Linda Yaccarino and wrote, “I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”
Who is Linda Yaccarino?
Linda Yaccarino worked for Turner Entertainment for 15 years as executive vice president and chief operating officer of ad sales. She played a key role in developing innovative advertising and marketing solutions. She joined NBCUniversal in October 2011 as the head of the advertising sales and played a key role in the launch of Peacock streaming service. Yaccarino joined the Ad Council in 2014. President Donald Trump appointed her to the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition in 2018. She became chair of the Ad Council’s board of directors in January 2021, for a term that ran until June 30, 2022. As chair, Yaccarino partnered with the Biden administration in 2021 to create a coronavirus vaccine campaign that featured Pope Francis.
