Here’s what Sunil Gavaskar said about Shoaib Akhtar

Former Indian cricket captain, Sunil Gavaskar called Shoaib Akhtar as a “Fast-bowler with a sense of humour.”

Sunil Gavaskar, in his column Straight Drive for the daily Mid-Day, wrote that he enjoyed the former Pak fast-bowler Shoaib Akhtar’s response to his ‘snowfall in Lahore’ comment. In his column, Sunil Gavaskar wrote, “Requests keep coming in to join with them (former cricketers) to relive the old times and talk about how time is spent in the current self-containment situation. It’s not easy which ones to accept and which to reject.” Sunil Gavaskar also added, “I enjoyed the one I did with Ramiz Raja as we get along very well, but what I enjoyed, even more, was Shoiab Akhtar’s superb comeback about my snowfall in Lahore comment. A fast bowler with a sense of humour. Wow, love that!”

The former Pak fast-bowler Akhtar had suggested that India and Pakistan should play a bilateral series to raise funds for the fight against the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic. To his suggestion, the former Indian captain has said, “There are more chances of snowfall in Lahore than bilateral series between India and Pakistan.” Gavaskar also added that “Both teams will keep on meeting in World Cups and ICC tournaments, but a series between them seems unlikely right now,” Gavaskar had told former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raza on his YouTube channel.

Shoaib Akhtar took note of Sunil’s statement and wrote on his Twitter handle, saying, “Well Sunny Bhai, we did have a snowfall in Lahore last year. So nothing is impossible.” Sunil, who is impressed with the Pak cricketer’s wit, said, “A fast bowler with a sense of humour. Wow, love that!”in his column for Mid-Day.

Sunil Gavaskar played international cricket and led the Indian cricket team as the captain. He is regarded as one of the best opening batsmen in the history of Test cricket. Sunny Gavaskar also held the record of 34 Test cricket centuries, which was later broken by the former Indian cricket player, Sachin Tendulkar. Sunil Gavaskar has always admired the style of fast-bowling. However, he has recently developed an admiration for fast-bowling along with a sense of humour.
