Amazon announced today that they would offer their Prime membership free of cost with Jio Fiber subscription. Jio Fiber subscribers will now get one year of Amazon Prime subscription and other benefits like Prime Music and faster delivery on The Amazon app. The annual subscription of Amazon Prime costs about RS 999. But Jio Fibre customers on a gold plan or above will get it for no extra cost.
Amazon Prime boasts of the best Indian shows on its streaming platforms like The Family Man, Mirzapur, Paatal Lok, Four More Shots Please, and many international shows and movies. Subscribers can log into the myJio app to activate the services or log on into the Prime app using their existing Amazon account or create a new account. This service will not be available to the Jio Fiber Silver and Jio Fibre Bronze subscribers; to activate this service, they will have to recharge with the Gold subscription.
Jio Fibre offers services ranging from Jio Bronze costing Rs. 649 to Jio Fiber Titanium costing Rs. 8,499. Gaurav Gandhi, Director of Amazon Prime India, said, “We are delighted to work with Jio to make Amazon Prime membership available to Jio Fiber customers. With the annual Prime membership consumers will have access to the full bouquet of Prime benefits – unlimited streaming of the latest and exclusive video content, free and fast shipping, access to exclusive deals, ad-free music on Amazon Music, unlimited reading through Prime Reading and mobile gaming content with Prime Gaming.”
Their immediate rival Airtel has also been offering the same Amazon Prime annual subscription with a plan costing more than RS. 999. Amazon has also shown their interest in investing in Airtel and buying a few of its stocks following Facebook, which last month invested In Jio. Indian telecommunication market has become a battleground for these companies and wants to penetrate the Indian Telecom industry.
