Jitender settles for silver in 74kg final at Asian Wrestling Championships!!

Jitender Kumar lost 1-3 to Kaisanov in the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium summit clash and he won his spot in the Olympic Qualifiers team by finishing in the final.

The Indian contingent wrestling wrapped twenty medals in their campaign for the Asian Wrestling Championship 2020.

On Sunday Jitender displayed tremendous defensive skills against Kazakhstan’s Daniyar Kaisanov but was lacking in attack. And settled down for the silver medal in the 74 kg final after losing in the Asian Wrestling Championship.

The Indian has sealed his spot in the Olympic Qualifiers team by finishing in the final, lost the game in the summit fight that went down to the wire.

Having won his qualifying bout quite easily, Jitender has succeeded in winning against Iran’s Mostafa Mohabbali as his next fight. Hosseinkhani (2-2), and Sumiyabazar Zandanbud (2-1) from Mongolia.

To fly to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan for the Olympic qualifiers without a retrial his performance is sufficient to convince the national federation that he should.

Respectively Rahul Aware and Deepak Punia won their matches with a bronze medal. Aware outclassed Iran’s Majid Almas Dastan 5-2 in the 61 kg category to clinch bronze.

Rahul while taking after his about said that his visibility was dejected “I had aimed for a Gold, but I am a bit disappointed after winning a bronze medal”.

“I tried one move towards the end but could not execute it properly, it could have got me the gold. There are improvements in my game and it could be seen This silver is special. Now I will try harder to get Olympic quota”, said Jitender.
