Karnataka Minister CN Ashwath Narayan has offered apology to former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for provoking the people of the state to kill him like Tipu Sultan, the ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore.
In a recent public gathering in Mandya, Ashwath Narayan taken a dig at the Former CM, saying, “Do you want Tipu [Sultan] or [Hindutva ideologue VD] Savarkar? Where should we send this Tipu Sultan? What did Nanje Gowda do? You should finish him (Siddaramaiah) off the same way.”
In a series of tweets, Siddaramaiah ranted against CN Ashwath Narayan and demanded a response from Chief Minister SR Bommai and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Siddu tweeted, “The Minister @drashwathcn has called upon the people that they should shoot me like Tipu was shot. Minister, why are you provoking people am not surprised by their call for my assassination @drashwathcn. Can we expect love, compassion and friendship from a party leader who worships the very murderers of Gandhiji, apart from thuggery?? Bring your own gun and kill me.”
He added, “Even after a minister of the state has openly called for his murder, if the police have not taken action against him, then the ruler of this state is not alive, the government is dead. I would like to know the response of the Chief Minister @BSBommai and Prime Minister @narendramodi to the killing call given by the Minister (m0 @drashwathcn. Is silence a sign of consent?”
After seeing tirade, Ashwath Narayan tweeted, “The words used to compare Tipu-Siddaramaiah in Mandya are casual allusions and not malicious words. Heated arguement is an integral part of politics. The words I have spoken should be seen in that frame. This is essential for a healthy democracy.”
“The people of the state have seen Siddaramaiah’s linguistic proficiency and the (rural!) words he uses, taking what he has said to mean ‘beat’ in Adu language as they see fit. After all, the people of Mandya do not have the brutality of Tipu.”
“It may be the culture of @siddaramaiah that the Prime Minister is a Homicide (ನರ ಹಂತಕ), the Chief Minister is a house wrecker (ಮನೆ ಹಾಳಾಗ). However, I said that only in the sense that Congress should be defeated in this election. I’m sorry it hurt them.”
