The new execution date was set after the Delhi government told the court that the convicts exhausted all of their legal remedies.
A fresh death warrant has issued by Delhi court on Thursday to execute the Nirbhaya gang rape four convicts and murder case for March 20 at 5.30 am.
Additional Sessions Judge Dharmendra Rana has set March 20 as the new execution date for the convicts after the Delhi government has announced they have exhausted all their legal remedies.
The lawyer for the four death row convicts has also told the Delhi court in the train there was no procedural impediment to set the execution date.
Nirbhaya’s mother said after reacting to the new execution dates “The morning of March 20 will be the morning of our life.”
“While dying Nirbhaya asked to ensure they get such punishment that such crime is not repeated ever,” she added.
On Wednesday the Delhi government had moved the court to request a fresh date for the execution of four Nirbhaya convicts.
With the rejection of the President, all options for relief from the death sentence had been exhausted by the four convicts.
The execution of four convicts ‘ death warrants Vinay Sharma (26), Mukesh Kumar Singh (32), Pawan (25), and Akshay Kumar Singh (31) which has been delayed to three times because of pursuing legal remedies.
All of the convicts must be hanged together in the case. Since no more appeals are pending in any trial on behalf of the convicts. The new death warrant possibly is the last one.
