Priyanka Gandhi denies requesting PM Narendra Modi to allow her to retain Lodhi Estate Bungalow for some time

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra refuted that rumours that she had requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allow her to retain the 35, Lodhi Estate Bungalow in Delhi for some time.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs issued an order on July 1, asking Priyanka Gandhi to vacate the Lodhi Road bungalow. “Consequent upon withdrawal of SPG protection and grant of Z+ security cover by Ministry of Home Affairs, which does not have provision for allotment/retention of government accommodation on security grounds to you, the allotment of Type 6B house number 35 in lodhi estate is hereby cancelled with effect from 1 July,” the order said.

Weeks after this order, it was rumoured that Priyanka Gandhi requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allow Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to retain the 35, Lodhi Estate Bungalow for some time. The Centre was approached to allow Priyanka Gandhi to stay there for some more time. Sources close to developments revealed that when the matter was brought to Modi’s notice, he said that her request most certainly be accepted, reported IANS.

But Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was shocked to read the reports.  She took to Twitter to clear the air this morning (July 14). She tweeted a report and called it fake. She wrote, “This is FAKE NEWS. I have not made any such request to the government. As per the eviction letter handed to me on the 1st of July, I will be vacating the government accommodation at 35 Lodhi Estate by the 1st of August.”
