Rishi Kapoor’s family says he kept medical staff at the hospital entertained to the last

Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor’s family has released an official statement confirming his death at 8.45 am today and said that he kept the doctors and medical staff at the hospital entertained to the last.

Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor had been suffering from leukemia for the last couple of years. He had been admitted to the hospital a few times and discharge after the recovery. His brother Randhir Kapoor stated yesterday that he was rushed to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai after he complained on breathing problems. He confirmed that he was suffering from cancer.

This morning, Amitabh Bachchan took to his Twitter account to express his shock and sadness over the sudden death of Rishi Kapoor, but he deleted the tweeted immediately, which created a kind of confusion. But by this time, many media houses had taken the screenshots of his tweet and reported the news about his death.

Two hours later, Rishi Kapoor’s family release a statement to announce his death at the hospital and the family claimed that he was jovial till his last breathe. “Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8:45 am 1ST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia. The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last,” his family stated.

Rishi Kapoor’s family added, “He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.”

Whenever, Rishi Kapoor was admitted to the hospital, he was flooded with wishes and prayers for his fast recovery by his fans. The actor was always grateful to his fans. His family said, “He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.”

Rishi Kapoor’s family requested his fans to respect laws during lockdown and not gather to pay him last respect. The statement concluded, “In this hour of personal loss, we also recognise the world is going through a very difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering in public. We would like to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are in force.
