RRR movie pre-release business: Rajamouli’s film to earn Rs 1000 crore from its theatrical rights

The makers of the movie RRR starring Junior NTR and Ram Charan are said to have sold out its theatrical rights of four areas. SS Rajamouli’s movie is expected to earn Rs 1,000 crore from its global distribution rights.

RRR movie happens to be the next directorial venture of SS Rajamouli after Baahubali 2, which has collected nearly Rs 2000 crore gross at the worldwide box office. It is a fictional period film, which is made on a grand scale with a whopping budget of Rs 400 crore. It features Junior NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and some note Hollywood actors in its ensemble cast.

These aspects have generated a massive amount of hype and curiosity about RRR movie, which is scheduled for worldwide release on January 8, 2021. There is a huge demand for its global theatrical rights. After seeing the response, the makers of the film have already kick-started its pre-release business. Several leading national and international distribution houses are vying their hands to bag its rights.

If we are to go by the reports, the makers of RRR movie have already sealed deals on the sale of its theatrical rights for four regions. Dil Raju has acquired its Nizam rights for a whopping amount of Rs 75 crore. Sai Korrapati of Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram has reportedly bagged its distribution rights for Ceded and Vizag for a record sum of Rs 40 crore and Rs 30 crore, respectively. Along with Asian Cinemas, Sai Korrapati is also said to have got its Karnataka rights for Rs 50 crore.

The makers of RRR are said to be quoting the prices for the rights of RRR movie based on the earnings of Baahubali 2 distributors in different regions. The movie earned Rs 67 crore, Rs 35 crore, Rs 26.50 crore and Rs 58 crore for its distributors of Nizam, Ceded, Vizag and Karnataka, respectively. the above prices of Rajamouli’s next film are bigger than the earnings of his last flick.

However, Baahubali 2 was released in five languages and it had earned Rs 831 crore for its worldwide distributors. Now, RRR movie, which is made with a budget of Rs 400 crore, will be released in 10 languages. Considering its above prices, the Junior NTR and Ram Charan starrer would fetch nothing less than Rs 1,000 crore from the sale of its global theatrical rights.
