Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Congress president DK Shivakumar are all set to swear in as the new Chief Minister and Dy CM of Karnataka at the Kantheerava Stadium in Bangalore on May 20.
After clearing the leadership tussle in the state Congress, Karnataka in-charge of Congress, KC Venugopal announced the names of the CM and Dy CM on Thursday. He tweeted, “The Congress President Shri @kharge has authorised me to convey his decision: Shri @siddaramaiah will be the new Chief Minister of Karnataka, and Shri @DKShivakumar will be the only one Deputy CM of the state. @DKShivakumar ji will continue as the KPCC President until the parliamentary election is over.
KC Venugopal added, “Heartiest congratulations to Sh. @siddaramaiah ji and Sh. @DKShivakumar ji for being designated the next Chief Minister and Deputy CM of Karnataka! I am confident that your combined experience, empathy and dedication to public service will give Karnataka a visionary leadership that will take it to new heights! My best wishes to you for a remarkable tenure ahead!”
Later, Congress president DK Shivakumar met the governor along with Siddaramaiah and other leaders. He tweeted a photo of his meeting and wrote, “Chief Minister-designate Shri Siddaramaiah along with a delegation of the legislative party met the Governor and presented the right to form the government. Meanwhile, we wished the Governor on his birthday.”
The Congress president announced the swearing ceremony will take place at Kantheerava Stadium, Bangalore on May 20 and welcomed everyone. DK Shivakumar tweeted, “The historic moment, which the whole Karnataka was eagerly waiting for, is finally here. I cordially welcome everyone to attend the swearing-in ceremony to be held at Kantheerava Stadium tomorrow.”
Randeep Singh Surjewala congratulated both Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar for his new role as next Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka respectively. Meanwhile, the Congress leader reminded both the leaders of the tasks to fulfil to retain the people’s faith in the party.
