Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah slammed the BJP for scraping the reservation for Muslims and said that Congress is committed to increasing the reservation limit from 50 to 75%.
The BJP Government decided to abolish the 4% reservation for Muslims under 2-B category. The 4% was split into two and distributed among Vokkaligas in 2-C category and Lingayats in 2-D category. Siddaramaiah tweeted a video of Amit Shah talking about it and wrote, “Mr @AmitShah, There is no need to scrap the reservation for Muslims to increase the reservation for Vokkaligas and Lingayats.”
Siddaramaiah continued, “Every deserving community can be given reservation based on their population if the reservation limit of 50% is removed. BJP never had an intension of giving reservation to Vokkaligas & Lingayats, but were only interested in removing the reservation for Muslims. #ReservationMosa.”
The Ex-Karnataka CM said that the Congress is not against increasing the reservation. Siddaramaiah tweeted, “We are not against increasing the reservation for Vokkaligas or Lingayats or any other community. We support the increase in reservation for everyone based on their population. We are only opposing @BJP4Karnataka’s eye wash during elections.”
Siddaramaiah said that his party is committed to increase the reservation from 50 to 75% it comes to power in the upcoming Karnataka assembly elections. The Congress leader added, “Congress party is committed to increasing the reservation limit from 50% to 75%, and to increase reservation to all castes based on their population.”
