A video of a heart-wrenching incident of a patient being dragged on the floor by his relatives to reach the doctor the Nizamabad District Government General Hospital, has gone viral on social media.

Sources claimed this incident took place on the evening of March 31. The patient was said to be suffering from illness and backbone problems. After he was brought to the hospital by his relatives, he was made to sit outside the Out-Patient department throughout the night. He got registration on the afternoon of April 1. He was given a ticket to see the doctor on the second floor.

The patient needed a stretcher or wheelchair to reach the second floor. With the hospital staff not assisting him, his relatives chose to drag him across the hospital floor, causing him immense pain and humiliation. Weeks after of the incident, its video hit social media and sparked outrage and demand for better healthcare infrastructure Nizamabad District Government General Hospital.

Talking to TV 9 Telugu news channel, Collector Rajeevgandhi Hanumanthu said that he would take against the responsible officer. He said, “I have seen the video about it on social media. Strict action will be taken against the responsible person. And I will take look into the logistic issues and take necessary actions to resolve them.”

Collector Rajeevgandhi Hanumanthu added, “I spoke higher officer from the hospital, who said that the lift went to bring a wheelchair for the patient, but the parents of the patient started dragging him by his legs without waiting for him. I feel this information is not right. I would recheck the issue and take action.”
