Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s fans are furious with some movie portals and people, who are claiming that his last release Bigil has become a flop at the worldwide box office and incurred losses to its makers.

Bigil, which is a sports drama, was released in the cinema halls on 25 October 2019. Made on a budget of Rs 180 crore, the movie is estimated to have collected over Rs 300 crore gross at the worldwide box office. It has become one of the highest grossing Tamil films of the year. The film has not only recovered its distributors’ investment, but has also earned them some profit shares.

But eight months after its release, some portals claimed that Bigil has failed to make expected amount of collections at the box-office. As a result, AGS entertainment suffered a loss of more than Rs 20 crores from the movie. A website reported its budget exceeded due to the use of graphic works in the scenes of football match.

Tamil superstar fans Vijay’s fans were upset with the reports claiming that Bigil has become a flop at the box office. They took to Twitter to slam those portals. Actor Vijay Fans (@Actor_Vijay) tweeted, “AGS Productions @archanakalpathi has denied the reports which state that #Bigil has incurred a loss of 20 crores, no such interview was given by her!! It has been classified as FAKE NEWS!”

Vijay Fans Trends (@VijayFansTrends) tweeted, “#Bigil Producer @archanakalpathi herself has confirmed that reports coming out regarding Bigil’s collection are actually fake. She also made it clear that #Bigil was a profitable venture for the producers. #Master.”

Archana Kalpathi, who has bankrolled Bigil under her banner AGS Productions, responded to the post of Vijay’s fans and asked a portal to fact check. The producer wrote, “Yes. @republic please fact check this article. Thank you?”
