Debutant director Karthik Varma Dandu’s Virupaksha has made fantastic collection at the worldwide box office on the first day and become the biggest opener for young Telugu actor Sai Dharam Tej.

Sai Dharam Tej, who has churned out back-to-back hit, is back with different movie title Virupaksha, which is a supernatural mystery action film. Its promos created a lot of curiosity among the film goers. The distributors, who shelled out hefty sum on its theatrical rights, released it in a large number of cinema halls to cash in the craze surrounding the movie.

Having huge hype, Virupaksha opened to superb response and collected Rs 12 crore gross at the worldwide box office on the first day of its release. It turned biggest opener for Sai Dharam Tej.

Virupaksha has received positive reviews and rating from everyone. With Saturday being the Eid holiday, the effect of the word of mouth is clearly visible on its ticket sales and the movie is all set to show big jump in its collection at the box office on second day.

Made on a medium budget, Virupaksha got Rs 25 crore to its producers from the sale of its worldwide theatrical rights. The movie has earned Rs 6.25 crore for its distributors on the first day. Considering the word of mouth, the film is all set to become profitable venture for both the makers and its distributors.
