Yami Gautam talks about the challenges of not coming from a filmy background

The gorgeous Yami Gautam had made her Bollywood debut back in 2012 opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in Vicky Donor. Since then, there was no turning back for Yami as she has been a part of hit movies namely Badlapur, Kaabil, Uri: The Surgical Strike and the latest Bala. Fans were super excited to see her and Ayushmann share the screen as it was their reunion and their debut together in Vicky Donor.

Like a lot of others be it Kangana or Anushka, Yami also made it on her own to the Bollywood industry. She has previously done modeling and television shows before entering movies. While giving an interview Yami opened up about her career choice and how she is happy coming from a non-filmy background and did not have anyone help her out in the industry. Yami stated, “Not knowing anyone in the industry, without a godfather, it is very challenging. I’m saying it as a matter of fact. When your film does, great but when your film doesn’t do well, you don’t get many options that justify your talent.”

The actor was further quizzed about having a non-filmy last name, to which she replied, “You can’t change the fact where I proudly come from. Hai yeh fact toh usse accept karne mein kya problem hai? Even if I feel I would have got things if I was from the industry, it’s not true. No, mujhe yeh perspective nahi milti jo mere paas hai, yeh family nah milti. I wouldn’t have been me and I want to be like myself only.” Well, we totally agree with her. One must make their own path in the industry if they want to be successful and also learn the importance of hard work.
