Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah defended his son Dr Yathindra, who is embroiled in the cash for posting row, saying that former CM HD Kumaraswamy was attempting to mentally disturb his son.
The Opposition parties had a field day after a video featuring Dr Yathindra’s conversation with his father over mobile phone over the posting of officials went viral in social media on Thursday. Minutes after the clip surfaced, JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy accused Yathindra of involvement in the “transfer business” and demanded the resignation of his father, CM Siddaramaiah.
Siddaramaiah was furious with the allegations made by the opposition leaders especially JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy. The Chief Minister of Karnataka took to his Twitter account to defend his son. In a lengthy statement, he came down heavily upon the latter, saying that HDK is fabricating fake stories to paint a negative picture of his son Yathindra.
Siddu started, “Unfortunately, former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who was involved in rampant corruption during his tenure, thinks all are like him. His pessimistic attitude does not allow him to think beyond corruption. His insecurity in politics often forces him to fabricate fake stories to paint a negative picture of his political opponents. The same has happened with respect to the recent public phone conversation between me and my son about the development of schools in Varuna constituency.”
Defending his son’s work, Siddaramaiah wrote, “Varuna Constituency Ashraya Committee Chairman and KDP member Dr. Yatindra has been tirelessly working for the development of the region, including improving the government schools using CSR funds. Yathindra was discussing about the list of beneficiary schools for the development. Kumaraswamy has twisted this phone conversation which happened in front of the public to falsely attribute it to corruption in transfers.”
The CM alleged that HDK is busy defaming his family. Siddaramaiah tweeted, “People of Karnataka have been seeing Kumaraswamy’s attempt to personally defame me since his party lost miserably in the elections. Now he has gone one step further to hurt my family for his ulterior political motives. This has exposed his sadistic mindset.”
Siddaramaiah said that Kumaraswamy is mentally disturbing his son through false allegations. He asked HDK’s father, former Prime Minister HD Devegowda to advise him to not to ridicule himself.
Siddu concluded, “Though Dr. Yathindra did not contest the elections, he remains committed to the development of Varuna. Kumaraswamy’s false allegations are nothing but his cruel attempt to mentally disturb my son. H.D. Kumaraswamy seems to have forgotten that his wife and son are also in politics. I refrain from stooping to Kumaraswamy’s level and speaking about his family in the same manner. I urge former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda to advise his son to avoid becoming an object of ridicule in front of Kannadigas.”
